Lake Lillinonah

Lake Lillinonah is the second largest lake in Connecticut! It was formed in 1955 when the Shepaug Dam impounded the Housatonic and Shepaug Rivers, creating a 1,900-acre lake with 45 miles of shoreline. The lake is named after Lillinonah, said to be the daughter of Waramaug, a chief of the Wyantenock people who had hunting grounds along the Housatonic.
